During sprint 29, the Brackets team focused on tracking down and solving performance issues related to our native desktop shell. Thankfully, the community continued to deliver incremental updates to Brackets search and replace and enhanced our desktop integration.

Find in Files Improvements

Before Brackets 29, searching a project was limited to just 100 results. But thanks to Tomás Malbrán, search results are now paginated. Simply click the next and previous arrows to browse unlimited search results. A single-click on a result will navigate to the result location but double clicking the result will open the file and add it to the working set.

“Open With” on OSX

Opening files from the OSX Finder just got a lot easier. Previously available for only a limited set of file extensions, “Open With” now works with all the file types that Brackets supports by default. When opened from the Finder, files are added to the working set of the existing project. If you open an entire folder, Brackets will create a new workspace for you.

From The Community

Most of the updates in Brackets 29 came from community contributions. From community translations to iterative UX enhancements, here’s the full list of accepted pull requests for sprint 29:

Up Next…

In sprint 29 we had to put down some really cool stuff to solve some performance issues. Now that we’ve got Brackets humming again, we’re going to get back to work on Live Development for HTML. We’ve also got a fix for OSX 10.6 users, so keep an eye out for Brackets 30.
